Request for Comment

This work uses industrial materials that are usually hidden away in server rooms to create an exposed closed-loop network linking three small computers. Each of the computer nodes requests and sends one line of a semi-generative poem to the other nodes, which respond in kind. The poem is created in real time via artist-written software that combines the artist’s own writing with text and vocabulary drawn from an archive of technical specifications and “request for comment” (RFC) documents that outline the original creation and discussion of the Internet Protocol (IP) and the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) which are the backbone of the modern internet.
